Use the morning for the City Palace and Jantar Mantar if you did not cover them on Day 6. City Palace is the royal residence of the Jaipur royal family (Maharajas of Jaipur) and is partially open to the public. The palace complex includes the Chandra Mahal (with a living royal wing), Mubarak Mahal (textile museum), Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience with two giant silver urns, the largest in the world, used to carry Ganges water for royal trips abroad), and the Sileh Khana (armoury).

Jantar Mantar, adjacent to City Palace, is a collection of 19 architectural astronomical instruments built between 1727 and 1734 under Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. The Samrat Yantra (the large triangular sundial) is 27 metres tall and can tell time to an accuracy of 2 seconds. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest stone sundial in the world. A guide or audio device is recommended to understand each instrument's function.

For the Johari and Bapu Bazaar shopping block, set clear objectives before entering: what you want, roughly what you are willing to pay, and a time limit. Johari Bazaar is for gems, silver, and gold jewelry; Bapu Bazaar is for block-printed textiles, Rajasthani footwear (mojari), and souvenirs. Both bazaars are concentrated in a walkable area near Badi Chaupar circle.

Shopping notes: always ask for hallmark certification for gold and government gem laboratory testing certificates for gemstones. Reputable dealers in Johari Bazaar will have these. For textiles, the block-printing quality is identifiable by the slight imperfections of hand-pressing (perfect uniform prints are machine-made). Government emporiums (Rajasthan State Handicrafts) offer fixed-price certified products without bargaining required.

Keep a departure transfer margin of at least 3 hours for airport or railway station movement, accounting for hotel checkout, bag loading, and Jaipur city traffic during peak hours (8-10 AM and 5-8 PM).

Typical budget for this 7-day Golden Triangle route: INR 22,000 to 55,000 per person based on transport style and stay tier. The primary cost variable is intercity transport: trains are significantly cheaper than private car hire.
